The EASTON BCN7 is a high school baseball players' bat. It's a -3, which means it's 3 ounces lighter than the length in inches, which is called the drop. The 2008 Easton BCN7 is a two piece composite bat. The two pieces fit together with a connection piece. Both top and bottom pieces are composite, which is a combination of Kevlar, carbon, and fiberglass.
The BCN7 has a 2 and 5/8 head and has to be BESR certified which most of -3 bats are.
Easton BCN7 is a regular flex bat.
How do you determine whether you need Regular Flex or a Stiff Flex bat? It's a good question. It's a difficult question. When a guy comes in we explain to them the difference in regular flex and stiff flex. Flex creates more bat speed, and bat speed is going to give you more distance when hit.
STIFF FLEX is for the power hitter. Easton engineers say stiffer flex is for the bigger, stronger player; the power hitter, the kid hitting in the 3, 4, 5 position in the batting order. Stiff flex bats are for the kid that's hitting doubles, triples, homeruns. He's the boy hitting the ball deep...
REGULAR FLEX is for the player that isn't quite as strong, the kid that's just getting base hits, bunting all the time, or hitting down the middle just trying to find the spots to dump the ball.
Sometimes just looking at them you can see: Hey Mr. Customer, you're 16 years old and 130 lbs. Stiff flex is not for you. You can go hit with it in the batting cage if you like it that's great, but there's a difference behind what this bat is built for and it's built for stronger hitters to be able to flex the bat and create more head speed.
Compare Easton BCN7 to new 2009 Easton Bats -- Easton BCN7 is a 2008 model and so it's priced to move at $199.95. The 2009 Easton BCN9 replaced it. Easton made some minor modifications, and the BCN9 sells for $380. The Easton BCN7 is $199, and that's a smoking deal.
COMPARE Easton BCN7 TO OTHER EASTON BATS -- If I had to compare it to another Easton bat, I'd compare the BCN7 it to the EASTON SV12, which is the yellow Easton IMX bat because that's a composite bat and composite barrel.
COMPARE Easton BCN7 TO NON-EASTON MFG BATS -- Compare to competitor bats? Demarini CS3 Black that's a bat that I'd consider somewhat equivalent. And the Louisville Triton.
Customers have said the BCN7 has a good grip, has a huge sweet spot, is well-balanced, and that the Easton BCN7 bat has a lot of pop.
